In May of 2017, a port stop on my cruise Itinerary was Curacao, part of the Dutch Caribbean. The Capital is Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its pastel-colored Dutch colonial buildings and the floating Queen Emma Bridge. The colorful architecture and gorgeous diving was absolutely lovely.

Diving!

I booked a dive trip with a small dive company the morning of the dives. The company operator, Bas Harts, personally picked me up and gave me a tour of the island on the way to the dive site. It was the most personal diving experience I have had so far. His knowledge of the island and its history was an added bonus, making me feel as if I had booked an island tour in addition to the dive trip. Even more, Bas brought a DSLR camera with an underwater housing along on the dives. He took several photos and passed them to me via email, at no extra charge. Needless to say, I highly recommend giving Bas Harts a ring if you find yourself in Curacao. underwater DSLR
