I escaped for a weekend road trip to ski the beautiful mountains in Loveland, Colorado.
Ski Trip
My neighbor and I hopped in the car mid-day and took off towards Denver with Chester keeping us company.
After getting to Denver, I stayed up way too late chatting with the friend I was crashing with for the weekend.
I have been to Crescent Hill in the past, but that hardly counts as real skiing. This trip to Loveland was practically my first time skiing, so we started with the easiest runs down the mountain.
I was surprised by how quickly I felt comfortable on the slopes, which probably came from some skill transfer from ice-skating.
We decided to go big or go home by taking the series of lifts to get to the top of the mountain, ending up on Lift 9. The ride up was cold with wind and a brief snow shower.
We quickly made a wrong turn on the blue run and joined with a black diamond, somehow managing to make it to the bottom alive! Talk about a sink or swim experience that enhanced our skills rapidly!
After returning our rental gear, we spent a few minutes listening to live music then headed back to Denver for another fantastic night of chatting with friends before returning to the grind on Sunday.
Take the trips, have the fun. Life is too short to not live.
